I hear with my faint ears
the powerful voice of thee
I see through my dim eyes
the majestic frame of thee
I imagine with my weak brain
the days I had lived with thee
thee hands have I held
and roamed around these busy streets
thee eyes do I search
all around now
but in vain
hundreds of beautiful stories
did I hear from thee, when I was a child
and how could I forget those
it was thee
who showered on me
utmost love and care
and moulded my mind
with thine
it was on thy sacrifice
this lineage survives still
it was thy affection that I longed for
your laps were my pillows
and your belly my punching bags
my dear grandfather,
the day when I died, was when you died
while I was still alive
the potful of your ash
that they gave
took myself
into my grave
where is your voice now
where are your stories now
and where is my companion
where can I hear back
your deep snorings
your loud laughter
and
your wise sayings
still
couldnot I find an answer to the puzzle
that you had thrown to me
and
still
couldnot I trace an end to the story
that you had half-told
before you died
still still still
and still I couldnot find an answer to the puzzle
that this life has thrown on me
and
why should I miss you?
the togetherness that we felt
and the moments that we shared
will ever remain
in my memory
my beloved grandfather...
